PAWSitive Teams
Service, Therapy, and Facility Dog Training
Enhancing lives with the help of a pawed companion.
Pawsitive teams helps train and provide service dogs to those in need.
Service dogs can be life changing to those with a disability, suffering from trauma, or in need of emotional support. Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs who live in San Diego County by using the skills of highly-trained service, facility, and therapy dogs.
-
Service dogs significantly improve the lives of individuals with disabilities. They provide a wide range of assistance and support while also increasing independence and overall well-being.
Our primary mission is to meet the needs by training and placing our dogs for different roles.
Our secondary mission is to educate the public on the roles of services dogs.

Service Dog Program:
Our in-training service dogs live with our volunteer trainers from puppyhood through placement, ensuring skilled, consistent training. Service dogs then go on to live full-time with a person in need. They can help:
Mobility assistance
Opening doors
Carrying bags
Retrieving dropped items
Preventing falls
Veteran services
Therapy Dog Program:
Our meet-and-greet therapy program works directly with professionals to provide goal-directed therapy for recipients.
These volunteers and dogs provide therapy at:
Hospitals and nursing homes
For adults and children in need of emotional support
Service workers and military
Facility Dog Program:
Our service dog’s are placed with professionals within the community and used to actively accomplish client-related goals. These dogs live with the facility dog handler.
They provide support through:
Functional outcome goals
Client motivation
Social interactions and language
Anxiety/Stress reducer
Positive reward system for good behavior

Our biggest needs:
Funding
Volunteer Trainers
We are a mostly volunteer-based organization. With more support we can train more dogs to help more people.
We need more funding to expand our reach and we need more dedicated volunteer trainers.
Not only do we provide programs, but we also provide insurance to our dogs for their entire lifetime. Our dogs are family and we make sure to help cover their vet bills. Lifelong vet care is an expensive cost. This is another reason why we need more funding.
